TESTING OF SOWING METHODS IN TRANSPLANT PRODUCTION FOR
SEVERAL MEDICINAL PLANTS

It is known that crops establishment of the medicinal plants can be realized by direct sowing of seed into the field and through transplantation of the nursery plant.

Eight variants of transplant sowing were tested in two years period (1998 and 1999). Following species were included in the experiment: Melissa officinalis L., Angelica archangelica L., Lavandula vera DC., Valeriana officinalis L., Thymus vulgaris L., Althea officinalis L., Echinacea purpurea L., Hypericum perforatum L.

The highest percent of emergency and the most rapid shooting has been attained at variant 4. In this variant the seed was previously cooled for 72 hours and sowed on random and covered with peat. The lowest percent of emergency and the slowest shooting was found out at variant 5. In this variant non-cooled seed was sown in rows and covered with soil.
