Infections caused by Chlamidia trachomatis have become increasingly frequent in our population, and are the results of results of vertical transmission, ineffective antihlamydial antibiotic therapy and the introduction of contemporary diagnostic methods and techniques. We have examined the effect of Hlamisan attested remedy, made from medicinal herbs on patients previously treated by antichlamydial antibiotics: azithromycin, tetracyclines and quinolones. After the treatment with antibiotics patients were still positive. That was confirmed by direct immunofluorescence assay (DFA) and/or serologic tests - enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and enzyme immunoassay (EIA). Between 1994-99. we treated 1018 patients with chronic C. trachomatis infections. They were unsuccessfully treated with antibiotic. Patients received Hlamisan in doses from 5-60 ml, three times a day. The duration of the treatment varied from 15-60 days. Out of 1018 patients, 953 (94%) had a negative test results there the treatment with Hlamisan were neither clinical sings or symptoms. Depending on the doses and the duration of the treatment, the results were: after 15 days of being treated by Hlamisan 401 (39.4%) patients became negative for C. trachomatis. The other who were still positive remained in the same treatment and after 30 days another 456 (44.79%) became negative. Patients whose test results even after 30 days were still positive received a higher dosage of Hlamisan and were treated to 60 days, and another 96 (9.4%) became negative for C. trachomatis. The research work has confirmed a high efficacy of Hlamisan in the treatment of chronic C. trachomatis infections treated by antichlamydial antibiotics and/or Hlamisan. The efficacy of Hlamisan in the treatment of C. trachomatis depended on the doses and the duration of the treatment. The research work has also proved that Hlamisan, made of medicinal herbs is the remedy of choice in the treatment of chronic C. trachomatis infections due to its high efficacy and low toxicity.
