During years 1999-2000 there was based field trial with Satureja hortensis in Botany Garden of Slovak Agricultural University in Nitra. The trial was realised on heavy gleysols with average humus content of and pH 7.05. Climate of the territory is classified as very warm and dry with moderate winter period. There were observed in the field trial influence of direct sowing and growing from seedlings on leaf biomass production as well as well as plant spacing. Sowing date in variants of direct sowing was 20.4. and seedling was planted into soil 15.5. (sowing date of seedlings was at the beginning of April). The highest yields were found in variants of direct sowing and spacing 0.3 x 0.2 m. Preparing of seedlings non-effectively prolonged production period and decreased yields up to 20%. Two harvests were realised in both growing technologies.
