Dear Sir,

Because of the war operations over Yugoslavia conducted during the last three months, Organizer of the First Conference on Medicinal and Aromatic Plants of Southeast European Countries (I CMAPSEEC) concluded that it would not be possible to organize this Conference according to accepted schedule (from October 11-15, 1999).

Preservation of our primary idea to provide entire Conference program makes certain delay unavoidable. From these reasons Organizer found necessary changes in the program of the Conference as follows (roughly).

Precisely redefined primary announcement and call for papers will be completed and dispatched till the middle of July.

From the other side scientific backbone of the Conference will remain its previous shape. It means (as we agreed) three introductory lectures - each of them reviewing the recent achievements in the field of medicinal and aromatic plants in the world in one of the following topics: chemical analysis, pharmacy and agronomy, several plenary lectures (each country will be represented with one plenary lecture, covering preferentially medicinal and aromatic plants problematic in local proportions, but from all different aspects), and much more oral and poster presentations. All other professional activities and additional programs will be completely retained (formation of Association of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants of Southeast European Countries - AMAPSEEC, Workshop - Characterization of plant isolates and related products, promotion of book, monographs, companies, institutions, etc.).

In meantime I will send you proposal for the Bylaws of the Association for Medicinal and Aromatic Plants of Southeast European Countries (AMAPSEEC), which I prepared almost transferring Bylaws of Society for Medicinal Plants (former GA) in possible conditions for AMAPSEEC foundation. Please, find this as just preliminary proposal, without any obligations, inform your colleagues about that, and collect all their remarks for our further considerations. All propositions will be reconsidered carefully in order to make best possible Bylaws for our Society.

 LOC Secretary,
Belgrade, June 25, 1999Mihailo Ristiæ
